Tsuetate Onsen Motoyu represents the original source spring of the historic Tsuetate hot spring area, revered for its exceptional mineral composition that includes high concentrations of sodium chloride and calcium. Dating back several centuries, these waters emerge at remarkably high temperatures exceeding 90°C, requiring the traditional "yumomi" cooling technique where attendants mix the water with wooden paddles before bathing.

Tsuetate Onsen is famous for its Koinobori, a carp streamers. But even not for that season, it is absolutely worth visiting. The natural surrounding is just lovely. Taking a bath in Onsen is really relaxing.
I visited on a holiday morning and was able to soak in the bath as if it were reserved for a private party with no one else around. It is an open-air bath like a field bath, but a large rock is a good blindfold. The clear water of gentle spring water was pleasant, and the sound of the river flowing in front of us was also tasteful.
