I used this onsen in the middle of May on a weekday. This public onsen is free, and the view is amazing. Fortunately, only a few people used this onsen at that time. It allows you to wear the swimsuit. After the bath, I recommend jumping into the lake, which was so cold.
Beautiful spot overlooking Lake Kussharo. Onsen water wasn’t too hot compared to others we’ve visited. Very little privacy or separation between male and female areas. Very basic hut for changing in. Onsen was small. Enjoyed the open air Onsen and view. Wouldn’t recommend it to those who are uncomfortable with mixed nudity. Tour buses seemed to be stopping so people could view the Onsen, which further diminished any privacy.
Although the picturesque hot spring location with its stunning views of Kussharo lake and swans was somewhat marred by a large group of loud tourists, the scenery itself was still breathtaking. Even without the hot spring, it was a pleasure to see the beautiful lake and its inhabitants. For those looking for a more peaceful experience, it may be worth considering visiting during a quieter time or exploring other hot spring options in the area. Nonetheless, the natural beauty of the location made it a memorable experience overall.
