Mikokuyu is a cherished public bathhouse in Tokyo's Sumida Ward established in 1947 and renovated in 2015.
The facility spans multiple floors, featuring a variety of baths with temperatures ranging from 25°C to 46°C. Notably, the semi-open-air bath on the fifth floor offers a glimpse of the iconic Tokyo Skytree.
The baths utilize naturally black mineral water, sourced from just 100 meters below ground, known for its skin-soothing properties. The coloration results from organic materials in the soil, giving the water a distinctive hue reminiscent of strong black tea.

15 minute walk from the metro station. There is a small supermarket nearby where you can satisfy your empty stomach after the hot bath.
For just 750¥ you get a towel rental and access to the bathhouse. Men and women are welcome with their own floors for bathing. Plenty of storage space for your shoes and belongings. Enough showers to accommodate a large group at once, with complimentary body soap and shampoo dispensers. Tubs of varying temperatures to make anyone comfortable. Ice cold milk drinks and coffees available in the vending machine for less than 150¥. I enjoyed watching sumo on the lobby's TV and drinking a Meiji strawberry milk.
My favourite is the outdoor bath with a view of the Tokyo Skytree. Mikokuyu is also tattoo friendly
