About Taikou-no-Yu Onsen

Taikou-no-Yu is a premier hot spring facility located in the historic Arima Onsen district of Kobe, Japan.

Celebrated for its extensive range of bathing options, this spa offers visitors a chance to experience both of Arima's renowned spring waters: the golden-hued Kinsen, rich in iron and salt, and the clear Ginsen, containing radium and carbonate. With over 26 different types of baths, including open-air rock baths, Goemon cauldron-style tubs, herbal baths, and carbonated baths, guests can indulge in a variety of therapeutic experiences.

The facility also features themed steam baths and stone saunas, such as the "Golden Tea Room" inspired by Toyotomi Hideyoshi's opulent design. Beyond bathing, Taikou-no-Yu offers a nostalgic food court reminiscent of old-time street markets and a restaurant serving seasonal dishes and premium sake.

I cannot stress how good this place is

If you plan things well and experience the array of offerings they have. We went for a massage, hot stone spa and onsen and it was blissful. Only caveat, reaching it by public transport is a bit of a juggling game.

I went to this onsen on Saturday morning with my family and truly enjoyed it.

We were one of the first customers because we went there right before opening but it got so busy when we left around 12:30. My son who is 13 years old didn't want to be naked in the public so I just let him try doctor fish which was available for additional cost. My aunt and I enjoyed the outdoor onsen in the rain. I think the price is fair enough. It was my first outdoor onsen experience and I loved it.

A must do - Onsen experience.

Really enjoyable and relaxing experience at this Onsen. Several baths available both indoors and outdoors, making for a refreshing cool down on a sunny but cool spring day. It was busy but not excessively crowded despite being during Golden Week. Plenty of lockers available, and space in baths even if needing to wait just a few minutes. For international visitors, there's signage in english and we found everyone welcoming. It's certainly a unique experience for Westerners, but a wonderful aspect of Japanese culture and self care. Highly recommended to leave your inhibitions behind and relax.
