Overview

About Hakone Yuryo

Hakone Yuryo is a beautifully styled countryside hot spring resort just outside Hakone Yumoto—ideal for a rejuvenating day trip from Tokyo . Nestled amid a forested setting, the sprawling public baths include gender-separated indoor pools, stone and pottery open-air baths, and a Finnish-style löyly sauna that cycles aromatic steam hourly.

For added privacy, guests can reserve one of 19 charming private outdoor rooms in the Hanare Yuya Kaden, making it perfect for couples or small groups.

Beyond the baths, the resort offers full services: a rustic irori-style restaurant, relaxation salons, and a souvenir shop, allowing you to spend the whole day unwinding in comfort.

A hot spring bath is a must do experience in Japan and there is no better place than in Hakone.

Famous for its onsens and Hakone Yuryo is no exception. It was actually the last thing I did on my holiday before heading for the airport and the best way to wind down and relax after 3 weeks of non stop exploring. Check-in was simple and a breeze. Staff welcoming and friendly. Hands down, one of my favourite visits in Japan

The hot spring bath experience was relaxing.

The public area has 5-6 baths indoor and outdoor combined for each gender. You can bring your own towel and cosmetics but everything provided there was pretty good. The outdoor bath was not cold at all. Going there took a while but the environment was serene. Private bath needs to be booked in advance.

10/10 experience

Hakone’s hot springs are an absolute must-visit and I highly recommend this place. The onsen experience is both relaxing and rejuvenating, with breathtaking mountain views adding to the charm. The mineral-rich waters leave your skin feeling soft and refreshed. Whether you choose a traditional ryokan or a day spa, the serene atmosphere is perfect for unwinding. Don’t forget to try a private outdoor bath—it’s magical soaking under the stars or surrounded by nature. Hakone truly combines Japanese tradition with natural beauty for an unforgettable getaway!
