A very pleasant bathing experience in the mountains of Yamagata. The water is great for the skin and I felt super relaxed.
Located along the river, there is no washing place (no shampoo or soap allowed) and it is a pure hot spring for enjoying hot water. It was strongly acidic and had a strong smell. The men's bath was divided into two levels, and flowed from the upper to the lower, so I enjoyed both the hot upper level and the lukewarm lower level. Free parking is available. I went first thing in the morning, so I had plenty of time.
Be aware that you need to pay for the locker and to bring or buy a towel. Water is very acidic
